SUMMARY:
The Major Gift Officer (MGO) will join an established fundraising team to play a central role in the strategy, execution, and management of Humane Society of Pinellas’ capital campaign. This includes prospect research, major gift solicitation, donor stewardship, and campaign coordination. This individual will lead efforts to meet campaign goals while fostering strong relationships with donors and stakeholders.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $58,330.00 - $70,000.00 per year

This includes prospect research, major gift solicitation, donor stewardship, and campaign coordination. This individual will lead efforts to meet campaign goals while fostering strong relationships with donors and stakeholders.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategy and Planning (10%)
- Collaborate with the Director of Development and CEO to design and implement campaign strategies.
- Develop detailed campaign plans, including timelines, milestones, and revenue targets.
- Identify opportunities for Board, staff, and volunteer involvement in campaign strategy and execution.
- Identify and research prospective donors with the capacity to make significant gifts.
- Manage the campaign pipeline, including tracking donor progress and potential.
- Collaborate with team members to prepare detailed donor profiles and identify strategies for engagement.
- Develop and execute personalized solicitation strategies to secure transformational gifts.
- Partner with the Director of Development and CEO to prepare and conduct solicitations for top campaign prospects.
- Build and sustain meaningful relationships with key campaign donors and prospects.
- Collaborate with the Director of Development and Individual Giving Manager to incorporate annual fund moves management into the campaign pipeline.
- Ensure timely follow-up and communication to maintain strong donor connections.
- Organize and facilitate campaign-related meetings and events.
- Recruit, train, and support campaign volunteers to assist with prospect outreach and engagement.
- Oversee campaign reporting, including preparing regular updates on progress, metrics, and challenges.
- Collaborate on the creation of campaign collateral, including print and digital materials.
- Follow and promote all HSP policies and philosophies in all interactions with staff, volunteers, and the public on and off site.
- Participate in staff meetings and training opportunities.
- Be prepared to assist in any disaster affecting HSP.
- Honor confidentiality of shelter business.
- Stay up to date with all procedure and policy changes.
- Support HSP’s mission.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director of Development and CEO.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in nonprofit fundraising or related field, required.
- A minimum of 5 years of fundraising experience with capital campaign management, preferred.
- Demonstrated track record of securing significant individual gifts (five- and six-figure donations).
- Understanding and experience with prospect research to identify and cultivate high-capacity donors.
- Familiarity with donor management systems and moves management processes (e.g. – Donor Perfect, etc.).
SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, effectively with HSP staff, volunteers, and donors.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with donors and stakeholders.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
- Multitasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 Suite (e.g. – Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Light to moderate physical activity performing non-strenuous activities of an administrative nature to include:
- Sitting, standing, and/or walking for an extended period of time.
- Lifting 25 lbs. or more.
- Working in a well-lighted, heated, and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation.
- Working outdoors in all forms of weather, including heat, cold, humidity, sun, and/or rain.
- Using manual dexterity sufficient to handle/reach items and work with hands and fingers.
- Using close, distant, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
